  • I am trying to get my sleep schedule back on track. I go back to work on Thursday at an elementary school as a teacher assistant for two autistic classes this year. Hope everyone is relaxing and staying safe this holiday weekend.

  • Thank you. I never knew my aura color before. I do seem to be empathic to people’s emotions so I try to keep my shields up and double check that an emotion is mine. I also try to meditate every day.

I am trying to change careers at the moment and it’s quite frustrating!

Thanks again for the reading I appreciate it.

  • I would like the reading for myself. This is me and one of my nieces last Christmas.

  • Hello Ladies,

I was wondering if anyone could do a reading for me please? Let me know if I need to add a picture or anything.

    Thanks!

I forgot to mention how I delt with the stress. First we found a good respite provider who would come for an hour or two each week so I could get a break. That helped for a little while once I finally got comfortable leaving the house.

The next thing I did – and still do- is meditate. When I first started meditation I would fall asleep. Now I can…Read More

Our doctor recommended a wheelchair when my son turned 12. He was already taller than I was and dropped to the ground when he didn’t want to walk! Talk about spaghetti legs. Even if I managed to get him up he would refuse to put his feet down.

I found it to be a very nice experience. We had to travel almost 2 hours away. We scheduled the appointment first thing in the morning and left while my son was still sleepy. He slept about half the ride time. You could also call the doctor and ask if they have another office that is closer or if there is another developmental specialist in your area.

  • Here is an FYI for all you mom’s of special kids. If you have not seen one you may want to take your child to a developmental pediatrician. They are specialized in dealing with our kids. Be warned though they are very busy. It took us a year to get an appointment but it was well worth the time. She (the doctor) hooked us up to all kinds of…Read More

    • glad you posted this. I’ve been saying i think my daughter is missing out for not having one. she is on disability Medicaid. for some reason the only developmental pediatrician that takes her insurance is 2 hours away. and yes, it was a 6 months wait to get in. I’m sure the wait time is much worse now. we never went. at time she didn’t handle car…Read More

To get a handicapped placard for your child you need a doctor to say that the child cannot get from the car to the house/store/wherever by themself. I had one for my son because he was a runner. You had to hold his hand or he would take off with no fear or awareness of any danger. your regular doctor should be able to sign it. I’m pretty sure the…Read More

    • thats what i thought too. i think they just didn’t want to sign it.
i never inquired about it before because we didn’t really need it. as shes getting older though, im having more issues. shes runs away, she has meltdowns ans i have to physically go and put her in the car. sometimes when she is tired or upset she doesn’t want to walk. shes 8 and…Read More

I was diagnosed with depression myself and was on Zoloft for years. However I have since discovered I have a low thyroid. Now that my thyroid meds are high enough to work properly I don’t have the depression. I still have trouble staying asleep though.

Do you have respite services? Or therapy of any kind? I would ask everyone who deals with your son if they know of a group or therapy available for social skills.

Many agencies have programs but you have to ask for them. If you have a social worker ask them too. We got help through ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) and United Cerebral…Read More

    Hi Alisha,

Autism is a very broad diagnosis. My son is 27 with autism and I work with autistic kids at school as a suppurt staff person so feel free to ask questions. You can private message me too if you’d like. I am not sure I can answer what you want to know but I am great to vent to!

    • Hi Snowl!
Thanks for responding. This is our first time dealing with this condition. I actually used to work with Autistic kids myself building communication skills but they were very young. Never have I managed it in my own family with my own kids. Our son just turned 16. He has major meltdowns at least once a week, doesnt do sports, doesn’t go…Read More

  • Wow, sorry you are going through all that.  I’m surprised the judge lets your ex come to court so often.  Hopefully your lawyer can find a way to slow down all the court appearances. If your lawyer knows that court is so close to your due date he/she should be able to postpone it. I can’t even imagine how busy a lady you must be!
